China Unicom Going Mobile in Hunter Street
China Unicom, a Chinese-state owned telecommunications operator and the world’s third largest mobile phone provider, has secured office space in the Sydney CBD.
China Unicom has taken up a 200 sqm tenancy at 48 Hunter Street, Sydney, in a deal negotiated by Ray White Commercial Office Leasing Director Anthony Harris.
Anthony Harris said 48 Hunter St, a 15 level commercial building, was favoured by China Unicom because it was a whole floor with secure lifts that provided a private and exclusive tenancy.
“We have seen a surge in Chinese businesses seeking office space in the Sydney CBD,” Mr Harris said.
“Demand is coming from technology and property companies investing in Australia and this has had flow on demand from associated property marketing firms and Chinese real estate agents servicing these clients.”
48 Hunter St is owned by the Coombes family who have made a number of a strategic investments in the Sydney CBD.
The rental negotiated was $595 per sqm per annum gross and the lease term was three years.
